Construction projects have a significant impact on the overall physical & mental health & well-being of the people who are involved in the project- i.e., the construction workers, the supervisors & engineers, and the project owners, both during the construction phase and in the long term.
Ways That Limpid Ensures Health and Well-Being On Construction Sites
At Limpid Construction, here is how we make key considerations for ensuring overall well-being during construction and even after the construction works are complete on our project site:
1. Natural Lighting and Ventilation:
During the design phase, we maximize the use of natural light and ventilation in building design. This can improve indoor air quality, reduce reliance on artificial lighting, and create a more comfortable and productive environment for occupants.
In one of our buildings we designed the roof of the house in an angle that is the most favourable for power generation through solar pv cells.
2. Accessibility:
We design and construct buildings accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. We also incorporate ramps, elevators, wider doorways, and other accessible features to ensure inclusivity and enhance the well-being of all occupants.
3. Sustainable construction practices:
We incorporate sustainable designing and construction principles to minimize the environmental impact of the construction project by using energy-efficient materials, such as the use of PPC over OPC, AAC blocks instead of fire burnt clay bricks, etc.
We also compulsorily provide rainwater harvesting pits or alternately make provisions for groundwater recharging during rains.
4. Health and Safety of construction workers:
We prioritize the health and safety of workers from Day 1 by doing the following Installation of a toilet and rest area on or around our site. Ensuring the availability of clean, cool drinking water on-site along Availability of basic medicines and bandages etc.
Lastly, we have a comprehensive construction worker insurance plan that covers the cost of treatment of workers in case someone is injured or compensates their family member in case of death/disability during working.
5. Noise and Air Pollution Control:
We implement measures to minimize noise and air pollution during construction by using noise barriers, scheduling noisy activities during off-peak hours, and employing equipment with noise-reducing features.
Additionally, we cover the periphery of the building with green nets and also employ control measures such as water spraying over sand, etc. and using water spray during the cutting of stones and tiles. These practices help reduce air pollution near the construction site by at least 25%.
6. Post-Construction Maintenance:
We handover all the pre-construction drawings as well as the as-built drawings of every project to the homeowners so that any repairs in the future can be tackled efficiently and effectively.
Additionally, we implement proper maintenance plans to ensure the longevity and functionality of the constructed buildings. We discuss and guide the homeonwers to regular inspections, repairs, and upgrades that can help maintain a safe and comfortable environment, ensuring ongoing well-being of the residents.
By considering these aspects throughout the construction process, stakeholders can contribute to the overall well-being of workers, future occupants, and the broader community impacted by the construction project.
